If you've got a lot of windows and you're looking for a good way to keep your house cooler, I'd look at getting your windows TINTed. Not just any TINT, but a ceramic thing designed to reduce UV and HEAT transfer. If you have good quality windows with low-e glass I would still evaluate the idea, as things can always use improvement. Windows don't always perform as specified.
