Pelican Elite Cooler vs Kooler Kube / Gel Review | Cooler Shock Review | Pelican Ice Retention Test

We compare the benefits of the Kooler Kube in an ice retention test vs just regular ole ice in two Pelican Elite Coolers 70 qt white & grey. Buy Kooler Gel here: https://amzn.to/2F5SoHO Buy Kooler Kube here: https://amzn.to/2MNaqF3 The Pelican elite coolers are great high performance coolers. They are now Injection molded vs Roto molded from the previous generation. Best part is they are 30% lighter and lifetime warranty. Two of the same coolers were taking from the hot areas and filled with ice. They were not prechilled prior to the test (left on the hot black asphalt for a few hours before filling with ice). They were both filled with ice. One a little less due to space needed for kooler kubes. Three (3) Kooler Kubes were dropped in one of the coolers and the ice retention test began. Kooler Kubes are the same thing as Kooler Gel. The Kooler Kube is a plastic container with pre-measured Kooler Gen inside. The Kubes were stored in a household freezer for more than 7 days before this test. Over the course of next few days each cooler was opened three (3) times per day. With filming morning and evening events. The coolers were left on the concrete outside with direct exposure to maximum sunlight. Record lid temps between 120 - 148 degrees F during afternoon hours. We noticed the sun was baking the concrete around the coolers, and radiating the heat back to the coolers through the day and large part of evening, putting the coolers through extreme temperatures. Test was done in May/June in the south. In the end It appeared the Cooler with the kooler kubes lasted about an extra day longer than cooler without the kubes. Cooler without the kubes lasted about 7 days, and cooler with the kubes lasted about 8 days. This video is not sponsored by Pelican or KoolerGel (TBK Industries), nor anyone else. In the future we may do more ice tests to see to see what difference between RTIC or YETI may be. Kooler Gel / Kube obviously can be used in any cooler.
